Getting Ready

Friday, August 2, Julie and I will once again jump into Henrietta, our late 1931 Model A Ford Deluxe Tudor, this time to begin a two day drive to Dearborn, Michigan for the Model A Restorer's Club (MARC) 2019 National Meet. The Meet will run Sun-Sat, August 4-10. We'll start our return home early Saturday morning August 10.

Details about the Meet:  https://mark35879.wixsite.com/marcdearborn2019

Our route to Dearborn will take us from our home in Ithaca, NY along NY 20 west to Buffalo, the Peace Bridge into Ontario, Canada, along Rt 3, and then a pause in Simcoe, Ontario for an overnight stay.

Saturday morning we'll set out along Rt 3 again; in some locations as we drive westward we expect to see up close the northern shoreline of Lake Erie.

We'll welcome Detroit late Saturday after passing through Windsor, Ontario and continue to Dearborn which is on the western edge of Detroit. The distance from Ithaca to Dearborn will be about 450 miles.

Henrietta awaits

In and around Dearborn we'll spend a week adventuring with hundreds of fellow Model A hobbyists and their ~400 Model A's. A personal side trip for us will be a visit to a former gas station built in 1928 that Jim's father worked at around 1950-52 when he was a graduate student at the University of Michigan. It is now the home of Bearclaw Coffee Co.

Our return route will be an eastward repeat of our first two days on the road.

We'll try to post daily here and hope you'll follow us along our way!
