Tuomy Hills

Another hot day. Left the hotel for Ann Arbor, home of the U of Michigan where Jim's father completed his PhD. 3 and 4 lanes of highway for at least 20 miles (30 miles from hotel to Tuomy Hills), commercialized never-ending strip, traffic lights every 1/2 mile mile, oh so tedious. Then some rural roads, then Tuomy Hills gas station built in 1928 where Jim's father worked part-time when in school. Sobering to be there for Jim who visited when he was under 5 years old (decades ago!). The building was AWESOME! Jim's father certainly saw many Model A's stop here for gas, oil, peanuts, and candy.

Mid-1930s, probably looked like this in 1950 when Jim's father worked the gas pumps
